<h3>Introduction</h3>
I assume that you already possess a keen interest in Artificial intelligence and you are now excited and want to build your own AI app. It could be a ChatGPT wrapper or something entirely unique that has never been applied in any industry before. This journey you desire to walk I have walked and will take you where I have been.
For reference purposes I will use the initial architecture of our solution <a href="https://www.intelliconcierge.com/">Intelli</a>. Our team is made up of four individuals — each with a prefix appended to the Role CTO, which means everyone’s opinion influences the technical decisions we make. When we envisioned Intelli(fondly referred to as Elli) we saw it this way; We broke it down into movable parts that would come together to form the sweet spot of Data and Intelligence that would solve our customer’s problems in the easiest and most cost-effective way
<h3>OSI Model Diagram</h3>
<figure><img alt="The OSI Model (from Top to Bottom) of Intelli Tech Architecture" src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/854/1*TgAqJbfkwgqNoK003_IGwg.png"></figure>Bare in mind that the decisions for the various platform choices were made based off of cost, performance, ease of use, our team’s acquaintance with them and community built around it, for example we had Azure credits worth $1,000 and we had google credits worth $200; It only made financial sense that we rely on Azure although we acknowledge it was not the most friendly cloud platform available.
For the choice on <a href="https://www.oracle.com/database/what-is-database/">databases</a>, we segmented them into two usecases; one for basic storage and retrieval; We went for <a href="https://www.cloudflare.com/learning/ai/what-is-vector-database/">a vector database</a> because they allow for fast similarity searches; which is what we wanted since we had a RAG model as part of our architecture at a point. We knew there was going to be indexing of data and a vector database would be the best way to store it.
Yet again the decision for what we chose came down to available resources and familiarity with the tech; we found <a href="https://docs.pinecone.io/reference/create_index">documentation</a> on how to setup indices in Pinecone and also saw some <a href="https://python.langchain.com/docs/integrations/vectorstores/pinecone">documentation on Langchain</a> specifically tailored for pinecone. Adding to the fact that we ran into some errors trying to use Redis which was our first choice for a vector DB; we quickly switched our minds to Pinecone.
MongoDB and <a href="https://www.matillion.com/blog/what-is-azure-data-lake">Azure Data Lake</a> didn’t get the light of day for different reasons; The former didn’t have the easiest path to entry despite having plenty documentation out there; It had a steep learning curve and thus we chose to forego it. However much we acknowledge the robustness of the <a href="https://www.mongodb.com/developer/languages/python/semantic-search-made-easy-langchain-mongodb/">MongoDB Atlas Semantic search</a> and <a href="https://www.mongodb.com/developer/products/atlas/rag-atlas-vector-search-langchain-openai/">coupling </a>it with a <a href="https://aws.amazon.com/what-is/retrieval-augmented-generation/">RAG model</a>.
The latter was too early for us. We aren’t yet at the level, or scale of having big data and as such would just be a wastage of resources for us to run this service if we have failed to exhaust our current DBs. Although we shall still keep it on our rack for when we get there and our needs warrant such storage capacities.
This brings me to the second segment of our Dbs; Data Mining and Machine Learning; we saw the essence of having our system become better at answering questions by fine-tuning a foundational model to turn it into a proprietary and enterprise LLM specifically built for our business usecase and fully decoupled from and independent of it’s source/parent model.
When we started we only thought about using PyTorch as the library for Natural Language Processing(NLP) within <a href="https://colab.google/">Google Cola</a>b as the playground for us to perform our training but our minds were introduced to better options like TensorFlow which is an End to end open source platform for machine learning and thus would serve our needs adequately and ticks most of the boxes we needed.
Power BI (in Microsoft Fabric) were basically reporting tools; to visually represent the data/numbers of the progress of our training and Machine Learning procedures.
Moving up to the Presentation Layer; we chose to stick to A Python Back-end using the Django framework for it’s benefits of being structured, organized and an out of the box solution(comes with batteries included) It greatly increases our speed of building. And the fact that we also had access to technical expertise in our vicinity that were proficient with it made it a sound decision to make. The most important reason for this decision however is because we thought about the intricacies of dealing with data for ML purposes in any language other than python and it made sense that we work with python from day 0.
We chose to host our codebase on GitHub and initially had decided to ship it to production in a docker container; however as we proceeded we found out alternative ways to ship it that would be easier for us to execute. Vercel provided a serverless edge option to launch our Django app and we lunged at it(I love all things serverless!).
For the APIs we are utilizing Retell for Voice, Paddle for Payments, Our LLMs are OpenAi, Llama 2 and hope to soon have our own LLM Epsilon join these ranks.
For the Presentation Layer we chose to use NextJs framework to build the web app and Flutter to build the desktop for reason of our team having a familiarity and experience with these tools and technologies and thus making it a perfect fit.
<h3>Technical Architecture Diagram</h3>
Now that I have explained the OSI model; you can glimpse at the architecture and it will make sense to you. As you look at the architecture diagram you will realise there are elements that were added that were not part of the OSI model; this is because we kept on refining and changing our architecture as we learned and kept on going.

Some of the components we switched entirely are listed herein:

<li>Cloud Service Provider — Much as we love GCP; and had crafted our entire cloud infrastructure around them. We had to choose to flow where the credits flowed, to make our building azurier(easier)</li>
<li>Claude and Palm2 — We thought we would start with these two models but things turned out Open AI, so we took that path.</li>
<li>We had missed a crucial part (<a href="https://www.altexsoft.com/glossary/online-travel-agency-ota/">OTAs</a>) so we had to look out for those that had developer platforms and provided their API services.</li>

Getting started with Architecture for AI apps: A Founder’s guide

<h3>ChopCompass: How I built an AI-Powered Chatbot in 30 minutes to Discover the Best Dining Experiences</h3>

On the bus to MEST campus today(2nd bus). I sat next to a colleague <a href="https://medium.com/u/7ef90d577d96">Andrews Kwesi Ankomahene</a> and we had a light chat about a recently launched hackathon by AWS on devpost. The PartyRock Generative AI Hackathon by AWS: a challenge for all builders to get hands-on making generative AI-powered apps. In this challenge, we are required to use PartyRock, an Amazon Bedrock Playground as a fast and fun way to learn about Prompt Engineering and Foundational Models (FMs) to build a functional app with generative AI.
We are also expected to experiment with prompts to build an app based on one of four challenge categories or Remix the featured Side Quest app for more ways to compete!
The challenge categories are below:

<li>Interactive Learning Experience — virtual science lab, language lesson, etc;</li>
<li>Creative Assistant — music composition assistance, story idea generator, etc;</li>
<li>Experimental Entertainment — interactive story, Role Playing Games, etc;</li>
<li>Freestyle — any project that doesn’t fall into one of the categories above.</li>
</ul>
You can either create a Party Rock app from scratch or Remix an existing one. I chose to do the latter being that it was already looking like what I envisioned.
<h3>Backstory and genesis!</h3>
Discovering the perfect dining experience can be a challenge but not anymore. As a firm believer in innovation and reinvention, I was inspired by the convenience and personalized recommendations offered by Google Maps. This inspiration led me on a journey to develop an AI-powered chatbot that would revolutionize the way people find the best restaurants.
Welcome to the story of ChopCompass, my simple chat bot solution that quickly helps you in discovering exceptional dining experiences based on your location, budget, cuisine preference, and meal you want to eat.
<h3>Finding Inspiration in Google Maps</h3>
The idea for ChopCompass was born out of the desire to create a user-friendly platform that could provide personalized recommendations for dining establishments. Seeing how Google Maps effortlessly provided directions and suggestions based on user preferences, I recognized the immense potential for a similar concept in the food industry. With this inspiration in mind, I wanted to develop an AI-powered chatbot that would take restaurant discovery to the next level.
<h3>Developing ChopCompass: A Simple Walk through</h3>

But if you don’t have an account it will prompt you to create one and you can use apple or Google SAML.

5. From here on i added widgets; the first widget I added was the budget widget

7. One important feature I loved was the Show Configuration button on each of the widgets; It helps you choose the LLM you want to use and set the parameters like temperature and Top.

Side Note: While developing ChopCompass, I love the fact that AWS party rock comes with about 7 open-source base LLMs and the UI of the site is leaning towards Neo-brutalism. I love it.
<h3>Testing and Iteration: Refining ChopCompass</h3>
Once the development was complete, it was time to put ChopCompass to the test.
User feedback plays a vital role in refining the functionality of products and ensuring their effectiveness. I shared a link to the remix app in our group of fellow Global entrepreneurs so they could get to test it out and use it extensively.
I got some exciting feedback and also got two people to remix my app and go ahead to create their own apps. The feedback they gave also enabled me to identify areas for improvement and address any usability issues.
<h3>Reflection and Future Enhancements</h3>
Creating ChopCompass was a swift and exciting process that took only 30 minutes. I utilized the no-code platform, AWS Party Rock, to build the app. I started by remixing an existing app, adding more widgets, and making a few edits to customize it to my needs. Within a short time, I had successfully spun up ChopCompass on the AWS Party Rock platform.
The development process was straightforward, and I encountered no significant challenges along the way. ChopCompass was built with a focus on user-centric design, leveraging the convenience of AI-powered chatbots and the personalized recommendations of Google Maps. The app’s core features include the ability to provide tailored dining suggestions based on user preferences such as location, budget, cuisine type, and meal type.
My experience building ChopCompass has been both educational and rewarding. I learned the importance of prioritizing user experience and the potential of AI in transforming everyday experiences. I was able to efficiently create a unique and functional app in a short amount of time using a no-code platform.
Moving forward, I plan to enhance ChopCompass by incorporating advanced machine learning algorithms to improve the chatbot’s recommendations and expand its reach.
I believe that ChopCompass has the potential to revolutionize the way people discover dining experiences and look forward to sharing my journey with you.

Choose Root User, or IAM user and progress to type in the email address; this screen is for those that possess AWS accounts; however, if you are new to AWS or want to create a new AWS account, you will be redirected to a page that looks like this when you click on the "Create a new Account button".
Go ahead and sign up then log in to your AWS activate Console.
Since I already have an account, I proceed to answer the Kaptcha test to verify if I am human and then log in
Fill out the online application form with information about your company and its use case for AWS. Be sure to provide a complete and accurate application, as this will help increase your chances of being accepted into the program. This will be the account that you use to fill in the form and apply for the AWS Activate Founders program.
Wait for Approval:
After you have submitted your application, you will need to wait for AWS to review it. This process can take up to a few weeks, so be patient. If your application is approved, you will receive an email from AWS with instructions on how to activate your AWS Activate account.
Once you're done filling in the application form your console will look like this.
Enjoy the Benefits:
Once your application for credits is approved, you will receive an email informing you of the approval and the value of your credits. Your AWS Activate Credits are automatically applied to your AWS account upon receipt of your application approval email. You don't need to take any action. AWS Activate Credits are automatically applied to your monthly bill.
You can find the exact credit amount, expiration date, the remaining balance of your AWS Activate Credits, and the applicable AWS services in the bottom section of the Credits Page on the AWS Billing and Cost Management Console.

Leadership is a vast and intricate field of study with multiple facets. It’s about being a trailblazer, paving the way for others to follow. But not all leaders are made equal. For the purpose of this article, I will classify leaders into two distinct grades: grade A and grade B. This is not about a hierarchy in terms of quality or capability, but rather about the different ways these two types of leaders operate and influence their followers.
Grade B leaders, as I’ve specified, equate leadership with a title or a position of influence. They require a role of power to orchestrate their people and showcase their prowess. They take on notable responsibilities from a high pedestal, exhibiting their authority and making major decisions for the team or organization. The power and the office are their tools of influence.
On the contrary, Grade A leaders do not necessarily need a title or an official caption to galvanize people around them. They use empathy, inspiration, and example as their motivating forces instead of relying on a position of authority. These leaders emanate leadership through their personality, values, and actions, stirring people to strive towards a common objective.
Let’s dive deeper to better comprehend these two types of leadership:
<h3>What Grade B Leaders are good at</h3>
Grade B leaders are often visible at the peak of the hierarchy in any organization or delegation. They hold essential positions, make significant decisions, and frequently have a direct impact on the direction and strategy of the team or organization. They often dominate the spotlight, their actions and decisions under constant scrutiny.
The primary characteristic of the Grade B leader is their external locus of influence. They have a tangible feel of authority, given by their title or office, that lends them credibility and asserts their power. This type of leader is defined by the boundaries of their authority, which are often limited to their area of responsibility. They thrive and function best under situations where structures, protocols, and hierarchies are in place.
They are pressure-absorbing leaders. They are accountable for the performance of the group because they are at the helm. They define objectives, assign tasks, and ensure that every team member achieves their duties within a stipulated timeline.
However, their efficiency and competency often hinge on their title. They usually establish their leadership principles within their circle of influence and make decisions concerning people in that circle. The respect they get is often tied to their position.
<h3>The Influence of Grade A Leaders</h3>
Unlike Grade B leaders, Grade A leaders do not rely on ranks or positions to exercise their leadership. They inspire, motivate, and influence others through their interpersonal relations, personal integrity, and decisive actions. These individuals can be found at any level within an organization and may not necessarily hold a formal position of leadership or an office.
Grade A leaders have an internal sphere of influence. They lead by example, exhibiting the traits and values they want to cultivate in their team. They motivate their people through inspiration rather than direction, fostering a sense of unity, shared goals, and mutual respect. These leaders go beyond their designated roles and often influence aspects of the organization outside their formal jurisdiction.
They are often seen as mentors and role models. They draw respect from their abilities, knowledge, and character rather than from their titles. These leaders guide their teams with humility, empathy, honesty, and transparency, laying the foundation for trust, which is the bedrock of loyalty and long-term commitment.
To sum it up, it is the Grade B leaders who provide the structure and the authority for an organization to function. In contrast, it is the Grade A leaders who provide the heart and soul of a group, inspiring team members to give their best and fostering a culture of collaboration and shared success.
Both types of leaders are critical in any organization or gathering, as each provides a unique function and creates a balance that enables the collective unit to thrive. In an ideal world, every leader would embody elements of both Grade A and Grade B leadership since each has its advantages.
In the end, the most effective leadership style depends on the situation, the group members, and the task at hand. Consequently, good leaders are those who can adapt and alternate between the two grades, recognizing when to exert authority and when to lead by example. That’s the real distinction of a great leader.

Distinctions of leaders

Consciousness becomes a prison, and awareness especially of the self becomes the prison warden. Days become weeks, then months and finally years.
If the void of consciousness continues without action; carnal instinctual desires are awakened; the commonest being the desire to escape/flee — pursuit for freedom in whatever form one may define it. Drugs, Sex, Anything of a form desire in order to dissuade the human mind from this path of mental clarity.
Death by suicide often pops up once in a while; self-harm and other intrusive thoughts pop up too. If it(death) finds a man/woman without an anchor and stable foundation; it is very easy to wash their mental will away and thus get them to pull through with the act and this becomes the termination of their prison sentence. An end of the sentience and cognitive program encoded in their biological being. A man/woman with an anchor and firm foundation is akin to a ship at sea in a tempest or storm raging about them. The waves granted may barter the ship, heave and toss them about and thrash their puny bodies about; toss the ship asunder and give the captain and crew of the ship a rough sail and a reason to petition their gods or cast lots. However their anchors if deep and firm enough will keep them in perfect peace(the crew in this expression is the human mind.)
Anchors for many people vary and are of different substance and proportions of strength and tenacity.
Some have visions or life purposes to hold onto with missions as moral compasses and north stars. Some have individuals or families to defend, protect and provide or; although in circumstances where it becomes virtually impossible for one to fulfill those duties aforementioned. One’s anchor becomes one’s sinking stone. It eventually submerges them beneath the seas and drowns them; extinguishes not only their hopes but lives too.
For an anchor to be valid and resilient enough; what some friends call foolproof’ it has to possess qualities of a buoy, a life support belt and an anchor; the holy trinity(3 in 1) with a pupose to preserve you, keep you sane and afloat the ocean of the void. These functions interchange and replace the other qualities at specific times of need. My anchor is the faith of Christ in God. To put it in a layman’s term. Faith. Which faith comes when you are filled with the Holy Ghost. It is the promise of things toc come, things not just mortal and corporeal, but things eternal and celestial. When a man has a promise or date they are looking forward to when a particular experience they have glimpsed in their spirits is to unfold, living in the void of time suddenly becomes bearable because every day is countdown closer to that moment of contact. Faith possesses the qaulities I have mentioned above. It gets things done, It holds broken things and people together, It helps keep those drowning afloat.
Faith hovers between the aforementioned functions in a quantum phase state, switching from one to another. It is not a burden or a heavy load upon my human spirit to possess faith because it is not my faith but the faith of Christ; infact it is the opposite; Faith is an advantage; a weight lifter. All I have to do is believe and light i become; A commercial of an energy drink has a catchphrase; *redbull gives you wings* well guess what “Faith is the wind on which you soar without wings”
And the fact that it builds up my spirit and makes me tenacious and stronger is something marvelous because I keep on becoming more assured of whatever it is behold. Honestly when everything in the world screams give up, believing is the only option left, so that’s pretty straightforward and once you understand that the same faith raised lazarus from the dead; it makes a lot more sense the power you hold. This power like atomic energy needs activation to be let out/released, and once it is released, can be directed at any ciircumstance to change/effect or turn around/reverse and channeled through a medium of a heart that is at peace. This way faith cannot fail, it has no pedigree of failure, it is entirely hewn into the universe, it is the fabric with which worlds were stitched together and thus can understand how to effect changes or to modify things.
It helps to shed a light on any predicament and dispel any ilussion/confusion brought about by the darkness. Soaring and Floating or even walking on top of the oceans becomes a present truth and one that is continuous. I could speak of all the qualities of this anchor for me and still not fully exhaust them.
Once the factor of the anchor is attended to; the next bit to pay atention to is action. Remember; processing all this input/stimuli that comes in and have no adequate respinse of any sort puts the human mind in a form of self-aware prison, a time-loop; repetitive actions and patterns become discernible, obvious predictable and once they are noticed, recognised and assimilated to, they become thorns in the flesh/mind for many people. This is the part where the questions such as these arise “what is life?” “What’s the use of being alive?” “Why am I even alive?” and a million more, those without anchors jump off the ship here and say goodbye; those with anchors stay adrift the ocean.
The ebbing of time which is such a precious gift, becomes torturuous and cruel to those that held on and are anchored. Enter activity/action; this is any mundane routine designed to interrupt the normal programming of one’s day and thus cause an illusion of having no understanding how time works nor how the day goes by. When activity is present, we begin to appreixcate whatever form it is presented in; be it pesky, little whining, self entitled wailing children, the violent streets of social media, a one-sided relationship with a low-commitment, high maintenance detached partner, entitled girlfriedns with obscene standards without equal or relevant value to match up, daily startup operations like cold email investors, pitch sessions and practices, networking events, customer acquisitions, followups and just plain tweeting about building startups or writing inspirational LinkedIn posts about it; anything that comes in the form of activity should be welcomed. After all these ideas come in, they should then be filtered for relevance and relation to divine purpose or anything you call eternal purpose.
When they’re assessed and weighed against eternity and found worthy and weighty enough then proceed to engage in them and translate the stimuli to actions. This is the window out of the void of consciousness. Never let the human mind come to a state where it is not preoccupied with anything; a state of inertia/rest where your mental energy is transferred from Kinetic to Potential. That’s a state of vulnerability and mortality; not only in the sense of death to the body and mind with it but also in the sense of humanity and it’s limitations.
Being a god is much more easier than being a mortal, it also comes with the perks, infinite abilities and benefits that are attached to godhood. Therein lies the innate key that opens the door that leads you out of the conundrum of space and time. For an ternal being; deep time is experienced differently like a movie show/series with different episodes; it is not such a scary concept as it is to mortals. It is pizza topped with pineapple wedges baked in an outdoor oven.

Maybe you’re looking for a loophole in the supply and logistics chain that needs fixing and could be a big break for you if figured out right. You might be looking for possible ways to add value to an already established market and ecosystem that seems stable but you feel is insufficient or needs an improvement however stable and composed it might look on the outside. This is the founders' food(national breakfast )
So sometimes you might be lucky that after you’ve burnt the midnight oil you’ll get something out of it. Prolly not what you’ve been looking for but something else, an insight or alternative market entry tactic. A loophole you think is obvious or visible to all. Yet you were looking for something ingenious, something that hasn’t been witnessed before.
There are nights I’ve stayed awake too, mostly because I’d be working on our codebase or squashing bugs. On very rare occasions I woke up from sleep/bed because I couldn’t find the right amount of peace to sleep. And upon getting out of bed, I’d grab a pen and notebook, sometimes A4 paper and a pencil, and start scribbling things seemingly incoherent down. To my mind, they made perfect sense and I saw how every puzzle piece fits into each other seamlessly. To the ordinary eye, they’d not be more than the squiggles of a 5–6-year-old. These instructions often were business secrets, value propositions, pricing models, and product designs and features. These I downloaded when I least expected; I want to recount the three most pronounced occasions when I had these eureka/lightbulb moments.
Occasion 1: I was showering and in that helpless moment when I was covered under the torrent of water flowing from the shower spout, it was like my brain had been unsealed and plugged into the mains. I received particular information that I wasn’t privy to before. Certain organizations and how to approach them, who to contact, and how to go about it. That shower saved me about 4–6 months of running back and forth that would have been my experimentation trying to further figure out how to close the gap.
Ocassion 2: This will sound crazy but I have to say it. I was worshipping. There was worship sounds playing while I was praying in the spirit. The particular album I’ll share about it when I feel at liberty to do so. As I prayed in the spirit, I sensed something; an opening of a portal. I knew I had come across or stumbled upon something but I was also prepared to walk into it. When I did (enter) I saw events play before my eyes of something in the near future. I saw what was to be done and our(my team and I ) part in it. After seeing it all play out and its end, I moved out with it as my possession. I know if another man/person had entered therein they would have taken it. But I happened to be available and waiting that night. This wasn’t a deliberate act of wanting to access something. I wasn’t lusting after revelation. I was earnestly giving praise to my God, inquiring in His courts.
Ocassion 3: I was asleep on the sofa/couch after a long day of hard work, I had just finished having my supper and was preparing to rest/sleep and I switched off the computer to head to bed to rest, I got in bed and tried sleeping for 30 minutes all in vain, albeit all the exhaustion and tiredness, ideally I should have just slumped off and slept. Alas, I didn’t. I heard a voice tell me to get up and start writing. I scribbled in my notebook from 12:40 to 5:00 am almost like o was connected to the internet and had access to some archives. It was me and my notebook in the dead of the night with all the silence around me. When it clocked 5:30, my eyes had already pulled me through this and needed their rest which I proceeded to avail them with. The details I received that night helped me to refocus my sight and vision on something more productive for my startup.
Of all these three instances, that I call the most remarkable it was never my intention to burn the midnight oil to get an answer for something or try to figure out something.
And sometimes because of our ignorance, It’ll appear like those things are by mistake and are purely based on Chances/coincidental. This is because these moments are elusive and very slippery. However, they are not patterned or coincidental. There are actual patterns that have been set that can be followed. And by so doing you position yourself where they seek after you and find you. That’s the order, not the other way around. They’re things by reason of responsibility that we seek to understand and internalize better. However, these secrets come from God truthfully and only He can give them. So your positioning is what gives you access to them. Such is how it’s been. The benzene ring structure was revealed to Kekule so. In the same way, Isaac Newton comprehended the laws of physics that we came to newtons laws. The same way Einstein and Nikola Tesla Came across the secrets of the universe. It almost seems by mistake and coincidental that these men landed on these things. Science sometimes credits these discoveries to their IQ, but there’s more to it than that, otherwise, all people with the same or higher IQs would be making similar groundbreaking discoveries but it is not so, why?
The hidden nature of how these answers/solutions or secrets of the universe come to men/entrepreneurs has caused very many men to miss these secrets even when they we’re very close. And it’s only those that have mastered the pattern that have access to both the secrets and how they come.
So is it useless to spend sleepless nights awake when someone else can get the answer you’re awake for in their sleep or in a dream? No. Contrary to that, you’d be building a disciplined spirit and a character of a seeker that the worlds will start responding to you differently, and once in a while you’ll see gold nuggets thrown your side when you least expect it, or you’ll come across a trove of treasure ( stashed up) that will then belong to you.
In all these I’ve realized that the race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned, but time and chance happen to them all. (Time and chance here being Opportunity and a Personal Experience respectively)
This seems unfair but guess; what that’s the world and that’s just how it works. Moreover, of all these men, no one knows when their hour will come: so it’s best you live a patterned life lest you move like a blind man.

Sleepless nights — are they really worth it?

But we tend to judge startups harshly and want them to grow fast like GMO foods or plants on supplements and steroids. It doesn’t work that way.

When you start out, it’s ideation ( you have an idea in your mind and it’s great.) 💡 lightbulb moments I like to call them; all of a sudden you can’t sleep, you’re charged with adrenaline, you could swear you saw Isaac Newton or Einstein wave at you in your sleep, to show how proud they are of you.
At concept you have started getting some things clear in your head; formulating the bones of the entire framework. You’re exploring the feasibility(financially, technically, time) and if you’re able to take this and bring it to life.
When you’re clear on the concept you begin hurling the MVP(minimum viable product) it’s also often mistaken with a prototype. What this does is it gives you something to look at and marvel at your wits, but Ali’s it helps you to understand the target market’s pain point. You get it to them🤝🏾 and then listen to them describe their challenges and your job is to think about and strategise on how to solve them. When you do that successfully We can start calling what you’re doing a startup
You continually refine your MVP, basing on feedback from users and their experiences. At this rate, swift execution and iteration is the only thing that saves you from a burnout and burning through your run way and keeps you ahead of the curve. You start to make some revenue, recurring and push your business model to keep evolving till you can hit break even point (where the money you’re throwing into the engine is equal to the money the engine is throwing back at you) this is the first moment you can take a breather as a founder, momentarily because the game plan has to change and now the next step is not about expenses anymore it’s about scaling. 10X whatever you made in the last quarter and make sure you reach out to more customers while retaining the ones you currently have.
Customer satisfaction and fulfilment maintains customer relations. Most founders at this point rush to hire because they feel that’s the symbol and emblem of growth. Most times often blinded by a huge check cut by a VC or Angel. Just because you can afford to spend doesn’t mean you should spend. This is the point to rethink your strategy and evolve. Move to a higher plane of functioning. Solidify your team(skill and value) and brand (perception by the masses) because it’s the deciding factor for a consumer to buy from company A or company B. So it best be speaking some thing worth listening to.
Most founders are lucky that at this stage the market they’re in is very responses and they’re able to move into follow up markets and capture/seize those markets too. The element of preparedness is also key. Such that when the door(opportunity ) is presented, you are ready.
That’s how a unicorn is made. Some unicorns 🦄 go on to grow wings and become bigger scary flyi creatures(decacorns) from that spiralling onward into the Big Tech space (MAANG) group.
However the majority of startups and their founders that never get lucky(prepared enough when the opportunity comes opening) are often stagnant and remain at the former point of glory; slowly fading and losing that previous shiny luster of a startup.
The reason I’ve taken you through these phases of building is so that you can see and acknowledge that it isn’t a one day process, but rather a compounded effort of smaller consistent inputs that amount into something bigger as witnessed by the world. The builder is you and the team.
You are the ones on the racing track, not the investor or naysayer. They can only speak about you because you’re running and actively participating. They’ll only judge you because they’re seeing you do something. So don’t be like them and become harsh on yourself. too. Take criticism as it comes, sift it for gold nuggets, let the chaff fly with the wind and then continue the race. With this resolve and determination, it’s a matter of time before you’re next big break is here.
Keep bustling with activity, energy and juvenile vigour. It’s healthy for your team to see you pumped up and excited. Start from the end and build these things liek you see them complete.
